A resilient community finds ways to be there for the good and the bad, through sickness and in health, through the sunny warm days and the cold grey ones. Throughout this year, we have had the pleasure of joining together to honor students as they become bnei mitzvah. Even during this pandemic year, these milestones remind us that life goes on, that children grow, that we are obligated to strive for personal and communal goodness, and that we are not alone on this journey. Watching our students come of age, take on responsibilities and leadership among the Jewish people and beyond, and speak from the heart is uplifting and encouraging. On Monday of this week, my own son, Sam, became a bar mitzvah in our synagogue in front of a packed Zoom room full of family and friends. I was so proud of how he led the praying and Torah leining, and how he spoke. I was so thankful for all the people who have helped make him the special person that he is. And so I want to thank all of you, our extended Jewish family, for helping as a community to shape the wonderful children who will soon be our leaders. Mazel tov to us all!
Shabbat Shalom,
Brian Cohen, Head of School
