Dear MWJDS Families:
This letter pertains to our after school program, a terrific feature of our school which is about to get more terrific! There are several options to our after school offerings, which this memo hopes to clarify.
Standard After School
We offer our standard after school program Monday through Thursday from 3:15 to 5:30, and Friday from 1:45 to 4:00. This program costs $25.00 per day, and is discounted for families who use after school for more than three days a week (specifically, $90 for four days and $100 for all five days). There is also a 25% discount for a second child (sibling) in the after school program. This year, the standard after school program will be staffed by Solomon Rosenberg, with help from other regular MWJDS staff and/or additional college or graduate students as needed. Our standard after school program includes a healthy snack, homework club, outdoor time (weather permitting), board games and arts and crafts. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, HaMorah Patti (our wonderful art teacher) will be on hand to help Solomon create visual arts programming for our students.
Enrichment Clubs
On Monday through Thursday, we will also be offering special enrichment clubs to students that will be staffed by Mr. Merlyn and friends. These will include chess, drama, debate, stand-up comedy, journalism, role-playing games and other clubs as requested by you and your children. Not all clubs will be open to all aged children based on developmental maturity, but we will endeavor to offer as many multi-age experiences as we can to maximize participation. Enrichment clubs will also include a snack, and will run for an hour until 4:30. The fee for the enrichment clubs is $15.00. Those students who wish to stay for the remainder of after school will be charged an additional $10.00.
Instrumental Music Lessons and Taekwondo
We will also try to make space available to the Music Teachers Collaborative to offer private instrumental music lessons for piano, guitar, violin and woodwinds. Those interested should contact Stan Schertzer through their website: http://musicteacherscollaborative.com. Finally, if there is sufficient interest expressed, we will arrange again for Taekwondo martial arts classes from Giorgio’s in Sudbury (at MWJDS).
In order to properly plan for this year’s program, we appreciate your filling out this brief form by Sept. 1st. (send to: merlyn.carey@mwjds.org).
Thank you very much.
