Middle school students this year are active participants in a micro society. They are responsible for applying for jobs, earning a salary, and paying rent. They set weekly individual SMART goals with their teachers and are responsible for making progress towards meeting them. They will be investing money in the stock market, creating community service projects and businesses, learning about various careers, planning outings, and budgeting. Our students learn to take responsibility for their education and growth as an integral member of our community. Their learning is explicitly connected to real life as they learn to be lifelong learners.
Stop by Michelle’s room (room 2) if you’d like to see some student resumes. Students also created video cover letters that can be accessed by scanning the QR code on their resumes. Their resumes are showcased on the board that is available to students to advertise their pop up shop businesses.
Here’s a sneak peak!
