In Middle School Humanities, we spend time learning Greek and Latin roots to help strengthen our vocabulary and reading comprehension. A few weeks ago, one of the roots on our list was MACRO-, meaning large or great. We always come up with with words that we know to help us contextualize and figure out what the root means. “Too bad there’s no such thing as MACROroni”, remarked one student. It was only a matter of seconds before another student exclaimed, “…yet!” So here we are, chasing the dreams of our Middle School innovators, making macroroni, great, large pasta just in time to take home to our Thanksgiving tables! I’m thankful for this creative, fun, silly, innovative, hard-working, group of etymologists and chefs!
