6th, 7th, and 8th graders took a trip to Boston’s Long Wharf today. They had a harborside picnic lunch and got to watch an Atlantic Harbor Seal training session. After lunch, they had the opportunity to walk in the shoes of refugees from Burundi, Afghanistan, Syria, Sudan, and Honduras as part of the Doctors Without Borders Forced From Home traveling exhibition. This exhibit compliments their current participation in the Jewish Court of All Time (JCAT) court case on refugees entering Israel. The 6th and 7th graders are also studying the refugee crisis, current events, and geography in their Humanities classes. We concluded our day with a mini mitzvah project writing post cards to the doctors, nurses, and aid workers over seas working tirelessly in dangerous conditions to save lives and improve living conditions for some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.
