Since the American flag is such an important symbol of America, the second graders learned all about the Pledge of Allegiance. What are we actually saying when we “pledge allegiance?” What is a republic? We had a great discussion about the meaning of the words and completed a fun activity packet which went home on Thursday.
In science, first and second graders learned all about the different layers of the ocean. Then they created Ocean Habitat posters illustrating the Sunlight Zone, Twilight Zone and Midnight Zone. Check out the photo below.
My reading and grammar students love the challenge of finding words in the dictionary. This week we learned what we will find when we locate our entry word. Vocabulary words introduced were pronunciation, part of speech and definition. We will continue working on this for the next few weeks.
And, finally, my math group practiced identifying and adding coins. IXL was introduced and they can’t get enough! See Max and Alexandra below as they solve coin challenges.
Shabbat Shalom,
