Te’enah students are introducing the middah of the month, friendship, to the rest of the school today during Kabbalat Shabbat. To prepare, the children shared their ideas about friendship. Ideas included: first you play a game with someone a lot of times, then you become friends; you can become friends by saying “Hi” to someone and then asking them to be your friend; a friend is someone you like; friends like the same things; if a friend gets hurt, you take him/her to Nurse Valerie, then you spend time with them; sometimes you have play dates with your friends. After coming up with ideas, the children did illustrations. These illustrations will be presented at Kabbalat Shabbat today and then will go up on the special bulletin board for the middah of the month.
In math, we have continued to work on number bonds and have started practicing using a number line. We even “jumped” the number line in our classroom!
We made the most of our short week. In Writers’ Workshop, we are finishing up our “All About Me” books. In Jewish Studies we began learning about the upcoming holiday of Sukkot (Hamorah Joanne’s personal favorite Jewish holiday). Last but not least, in Fundations, the children completed an assessment and were introduced to consonant digraphs (two consonants together that make one sound).
G’mar Chatimah Tovah! May you be inscribed for a year of good health and happiness.
