We had a wonderful visit to the Children’s Museum this past Monday. Chalav students had lots of fun exploring various exhibits.
The highlight of our trip was our visit to the Japanese house together with the second graders. This was a great hands-on way to expand our social studies unit on Japan. First we “flew” on a plan to Japan.
Then we sat in the 100 year old house listening and learning from the docents.
We imagined sitting on the floor, eating at the table and spending a day in the life of a little Japanese girl. It was awesome!
This week Chalav introduced the number 33 at morning assembly on Lag B’Omer. We shared some facts about 33: it is the sum of 11+11+11; it is the number of times one of God’s names appears in the creation story; Lag in Lag B’omer stands for 33; and the numerical values of the letters in amen add up to 33.
We hope to see you at our siddur celebration next week.
Shabbat Shalom,
Hamorah Joanne
