Last week was a very exciting and busy one in Chalav. On Monday, we were privileged to meet and learn from cartoonist Terri Liebenson. Chalav students together with the rest of the lower school observed Terri drawing. learned about the process she goes through to create her characters and cartoons and then had the opportunity to try their hand at making their own cartoons.
In the afternoon, we visited the Matzah factory at Natick Chabad and learned about the process of making matzah. The children were able to try their hands at making their own matzah as well.
On Thursday, Chalav students walked to the public library. They listened to stories and learned about resources available at the library. The children were excited to be able to choose some books to bring back to our classroom.
In math, we are revisiting addition and subtraction and learning about fact families. In Fundations, we explored vowel consonant e words also known as magic E words and we continued to explore poetry in Writer’s Workshop.
Chalav students are eager for Passover and after hearing a story about the 10 plagues decided on their own initiative to act them out complete with costumes and props during indoor recess.
Best wishes for a Happy Passover!
