If you read the words carefully, whether in English or Hebrew, you will find an incredible lesson for our own times. No one, not even Moses the great, can do it alone. In fact, distributive and collaborative leadership is more productive than any one person trying to accomplish great things on their own. This is a message for all of us in the work that we do, and in the lives that we live.
How much are we taking onto ourselves? In this especially challenging year, how much have you taken on that may lead you to feel overwhelmed and perhaps underperforming? We need each other, and we need to allow others to step forward at different times. We need to think, work, and act to help one another, and especially when teaching and/or leading important initiatives. At our community meeting on Wednesday, February 3, we spoke about how well the school is doing given the different challenges that we’ve been facing.
We are doing our best to adapt, provide consistent structure and support for our students, while staying focused on areas for growth. Let’s learn from Yitro and apply it to our own lives.
Shabbat shalom,
